How to find Dhana lagna in a horosope?

Grades of wealth differ. Wealth has many sections and will have to be interpreted with reference to locality, time, circumstances and other surroundings. Ordinarily, we can recognise three grades, viz., aristocratic, commanding immense sums ; middle-class people, who have enough to eat, but not much to spare; and the poorer classes who have only one meal a day and who are hard-pressed for money.

Even the mediocres, who have enough to eat, can hardly meet extra expenses like marriages and other family functions. To have a clear knowledge of the combinations of planets, which produce all these various stages of financial affluence and depression, one should possess not only a, good knowledge of the subject, but also vast experience.

The following simple rule, culled out from an ancient astrological work, may be tested with advantage by students of astrology. The seven planets are given the following kalas (rays) or root numbers :Sun 30 Kalas, Jupiter 10 Kalas, Moon 16, Venus 12, Mars 6, Saturn 1, Mercury 8 kalas. Take the lords of the 9th from Lagna and the Moon; add the root numbers of these planets. Divide the total by 12. The remainder counted from Chandra Lagna (the position of the radical Moon) goes under the name of Special Chandra Lagna, which for purposes of convenience, we shall call Dhana Lagna.

If a number of benefics occupy the Dhana Lagna, the person will earn immense wealth. If there is only one benefic unaspected by other benefics or malefics, even then, the subject becomes highly rich. If Dhana Lagna is occupied by pure malefics, such as the Sun, Saturn or Mars, the person will have moderate wealth. If the malefic planet is in exaltation, the wealth will be moderate in the beginning but considerable later on in life. If the special Dhana Lagna has a benefic and a malefic, then also the person will be able to command a lot of wealth.

The same rule applies in the case of aspects. Planets situated in this special Dhana Lagna or aspecting it or situated in angles or trines from it will also give wealth in the course of their Dasas and Bhuktis, while those situated in 3, 6, 8 and 12 from this special Dhana Lagna will destroy wealth and give unnecessary expenses and losses.
