The Varna Koota
The twelve signs or Rashis of the zodiac, in four groups of three each, indicate the four casetes as follows:
1. Brahmins (the literate) : Signs (rashis) Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
2. Kshatriyas (the warriors) : Signs Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
3. Vaishyas (the traders) : Rashis Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
4. Shudras (the unskilled) : Rashis Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
